Old Garage, New Garage

I got so fed up with our garage, I had Premier Garage come up and give me a quote. It was fairly reasonable, so I went ahead.

First step, remove everything from the garage and put it in a "Pod". Since that name was taken, they called theirs "Packrat". The truck that delivered it was like a giant forklift. It can even do this maneuver with the pod full of stuff.

This is what it looked like full. Typical garage stuff.

Then, they put three coats on the floor. Before and after pictures. I had thrown away money painting my floor with the Home Depot stuff that peels off pretty quickly. Would not recommend that route.

Finally, the cabinets were installed.

The final product is still a work in progress. Another reason to make things look better is because this is the main entrance to our house for most people. Others have to walk all the way around to the front door. It's also a lot more functional. I can find stuff in a hurry. So there you have it, from ugly to pretty good looking.

Will Comply

I had this photo on my phone last year at this time. I read a really interesting article about how Obama has Internet on his desk, he doesn't always just read what his aides give him but he jumps over them and reads just about anything. ESPN is one of his favorite things on TV. He values dissenting opinions and will listen to the other side. I'm still hopeful for significant change by the time his second term begins.

"Wilco" is shorthand for Will Comply. I just got my first taste of them on "Ashes of American Flags", a live DVD. (I'm always really late to the party...in this case, about 20 years!)
On the DVD, they give you a download of all the songs that are on the DVD.

I sold my drums yesterday. It was sad to see them go but hopefully they will serve him well in his band just like they did in my band, "Toast" ('95 - '05). The guy who bought them had brain surgery (no drummer jokes, please) and is using drums for therapy to build his strength back up. He was just a young guy; way too young to go through something like that...

The early 70s

I was really amazed to find this photog of Bruce on a camping trip in the batch that Dad put on the CD years ago...

This is the one that surprised me... Sarah Howe, Bruce, Dave Ritchie, Me and Mom on the lower CCHS field. Sarah has red corduroys on and the fad back then was to sew a patch on the rear or something like that.

Sarah had a little brother who was just 4 or 5 at the time... that would make him roughly 38-39 by now.

Going to my Junior Prom, I think. It could be my Senior Prom up on 128 on the way to Crane's. The point is the hair... it must've been the look at the time but I can't swear I didn't just wake up.

Circa 1972-73 in Vermont at a cross country race Phil and I entered. Details are sketchy, but I ended up either hitch hiking to or from home with Pius Mahnig and David Guisanno.

Ahhh, it was President's Day... 1973. The college student and his wanna-be hippie brother.

And then it was 1976 and somehow I graduated with top honors from CCHS, headed to an illustrative four years at Harvard undergrad and Stanford for post graduate... ooops, I guess I was recalling the wrong life!

My hitch hiking buddies...

Thank you for coming to my graduation!

Uncle Bud

Classic shot of Bud with the ever-present pipe, checking the box scores no doubt!

The Greenhouse

I knew I got my remodeling gene from my childhood!

When everyone left Peter, John and I at the Gatcomb place, we tried to replicate the scene of Pete's oil painting. What a grand time that was at the ol' Gatcomb house!

The Reeds

Newlyweds. Was it Evanston on June 21st, 1947? Where did they spend their wedding night? What a great looking couple they still are after 64 years! Little did they know what lay ahead of them...

Sport Illustrated

Puppies are cute (we ought to know since we now have Tank!) but little girls are just as cute!

Jim sent this to Sport Illustrated and it was published. Mom sent one of my teddy bear reading the Monitor and it also was published. Mom, do you have that photog or that clipping from the CSM?

Howling

Tamra has always liked the phone...I just didn't know how much!

What kind of car is that?

We are trying to figure out what kind of car Tamra is sitting in? Phil found the same car (all yellow) in a movie trailer.

Any ideas? For those of you who've been there, this is their driveway before the "mound" was landscaped to ward off the traffic from Simms Street.

PCR and TBR

Other than Phil feeding Dad something, I know nothing about this photog. However, after seeing many, many vintage photogs, this one has good composition, color balance, focus, clarity and cleanliness (no scratches).

It's a Hit!!

I never thought I'd see the day...

Almost a year ago, we hosted Mom and Dad for a farewell dinner before we hit the road (I-70 all the way, almost) for Barre.

Phil mentioned that if you click on the picture, it goes to full size. When you do, you'll see the truth!

Blomange

In November 1988, Tamra and I cruised in the Caribbean for 12 days. Tamra only looks taller because I'm sinking in the sand and she's floating. When we arrived at Stapleton, we were met by Phil, Vivian and Andrew in town for Thanksgiving. All of us went up to Boulder the day after and tried a little place called "Pasta Jay's."

The Polo Grounds

This is an example of one of my favorite photogs that Scancafe sent back a while ago...Check out the ad for Chesterfield. This is a game Jim and Yvonne attended at the Polo Grounds in either '50 or '51. A time when African Americans (not a term for this photog's time...) were just starting to play baseball. When did Jackie Robinson break the race barrier?

Tank Arrives -

"Tank" (Tanqueray Mojito) was born on November 16th, 2009. Last night, we went over to Cindy and Ron's house to bring him home. Sundance is adjusting...

(I'll try to do better with keeping to my title's promise...)

ScanCafe

One Photog...

Since I just finished blogging on my Ski day, I thought this would be a fun one to post. Mom looks to be having a good time... Me, not so much!
